Getting married on a boat in Portugal: how it actually works
The romantic version is easy to picture; the working version has three moving parts: the vessel, the ceremony, and the table. Charter operators in Lisbon and the Algarve handle the first. Symbolic ceremonies afloat are straightforward; legally binding ones usually happen on land first, with the boat as the celebration. The third part is ours: a wedding table engineered for a deck, from champagne and canapés underway to a plated dinner once the anchor drops.
The boat wedding menu: built for salt air and golden light
Menus afloat favour what the setting amplifies: Atlantic seafood, bright cold courses, champagne that never warms up. Cakes travel in climate boxes and get their moment at anchor. For parties larger than the water allows, our wedding catering runs the shoreline version at villas and quintas, with the boat reserved for the exit.

Yacht weddings, questions
How much does a yacht wedding cost in Portugal?
Catering runs €120–180 per guest in 2026 for a plated dinner at anchor, or €55–90 for canapé and station receptions, all-in for the food side. The vessel charter is separate and varies widely by boat and season; we can point you to operators that fit your guest count.
Can you serve a full plated wedding dinner on a boat?
Yes, where the vessel allows: we assess the galley and deck in advance, pre-prepare what the space cannot handle, and serve plated courses at anchor, when the boat is steady and the light is best.
How many guests can a boat wedding take?
Intimate vow ceremonies run 2 to 12; catamarans and event vessels in Lisbon and Vilamoura take 20 to 60 comfortably for a standing reception. Above that, the honest answer is a shoreline venue with the boat as the getaway.
What about weather?
Every boat wedding we cater carries a plan B: a sheltered anchorage option, a marina-side backup, or a date-flex clause with the charter operator. May, June and September offer the best odds on both coasts.
Do you coordinate with the charter company?
Yes, directly: boarding logistics, galley access, service timing around the route, and the crew briefing all happen between us and the operator, not through you.
